Anabelle Jane Thompson Look there she goes that girl is strange, no question. Dazed and distracted, can't you tell? "Of course I feel that it's a necessity! Why would I not?"
An even bigger grin was sporting itself across Belle's dusty pink face. Romance, even if it wasn't really romantic, just wasn't her thing. Her first ever boyfriend was her best friend named Adam, and he was make believe.
Waiting for the touch of Chester's (imaginably) soft lips, Belle's heart began to skip beats. Thump----thump---bump-thump! She felt as if her heart was going to explode all over the hallway.
Chester's swift, halfway joking, movement/kiss thing was quite a shock to the fragile, petite girl. But mostly due to the fact she thought it was going to be a gentle, stop-the-world kiss, when in fact if was the complete opposite. Practically laying in Chester's arms, she opened her eyelids, revealing crisp, blue eyes newly 'hatched' like a butterfly. They gazed up at Chester, trying to look in his eyes and read what his confusing, sardonic mind was thinking.

I highly doubt it shall surprise any reader when I state that Chester, after pulling away from the rather disasterous yet, in his mind, amusing kiss, was laughing. It was the usual hysterical laughter, to the point that he was practically heaving in effort to get enough air back into his lungs. He was aware of Belle's eyes on him, watching his face, but he could not stop himself.
The opportunity presented itself, and he knew that if he had ignored it and did what any other guy would do, then he would regret the whole thing his entire life. No. Seize each chance to make life more amusing. Plus, assuming for some odd reason she did turn out to actually like him, it was best she knew that he was, well, a complete and total freak now, rather than later. It would save a lot of trouble.
So, with this in mind, he continued to laugh. It was only a short episode, but it almost felt like an eternity. By the time he finally managed to calm himself, he was practically crying.
"I'm sorry, really," he said, gasping for air. The smile was still spread widely across his face and he struggled to avoid another laughing bout.
"Alright, how about a real kiss this time?" Chester said, chuckling slightly. Not waiting for an answer, he put his arms around her properly this time, pulling her closer and giving her a gentler kiss, more along the lines of what she was most likely expecting in the first place.

Anabelle Jane Thompson Look there she goes that girl is strange, no question. Dazed and distracted, can't you tell? “I’m sorry, really. Alright, how about a real kiss this time?
And not more than ten seconds after Chester had uttered these words, Belle felt herself being tugged (more gently than the last time) into the awkward comfort of the male’s muscular arms. The touch of his warm kiss against her own lips was enough to send tingles all the way down her spine. After they had parted from their even more awkward kiss, Belle fought for words. Finally, “Now that’s the kiss I was hoping for,” escaped her lips.
In life, there are some things that should be thought, and definitely not spoken. The words Anabelle had just spoken, were one’s of that very nature. Wishing that the words hadn’t tumbled through the air, Belle felt her cheeks turn bright, rosy red from embarrassment. “I’m so sorry!” She clasped a hand to her mouth and looked Chester deep in the eyes. “I don’t think that’s what I should have said right there, was it?” She felt her face turn bright red and hotten, along with a great, big chortle.

"Now that’s the kiss I was hoping for."
Chester raised his eyebrow, surprised. He had expected her to say something, but probably not that. That seemed so... well, it reminded him of a movie. A fairy tale, or something. Unable to hold back, he started laughing again. This was hardly the relative to a hyena that he was before, but still, he was laughing. Probably not his best choice in this situation.
He leaned his head back, and when he looked up again, he saw how red her face was, which only made it harder for him to control himself.
“I’m so sorry! I don’t think that’s what I should have said right there, was it?”
"No, no! It's... fine. It's just, your face. You really should have seen your expression... 'a deer in headlights' is hardly the right phrase for this situation," he said between his laughter.

It would be obvious to anyone reading this that Belle would be unamused, and bit angry, at Chester. How could someone be such an asshole at such an, well you couldn't call it important, because it wasn't, intimate moment.
"You know, you don't have to be such a jerk about it though? Some people don't have a heart a brick like you," she began, her voice level growing louder with each syllable. No one could have figured out at that exact moment, not even Belle, what had set her off. She figured it was probably because of his immature, annoying laughing at the wrong moments. "Sometimes people have feelings that get hurt."
Belle stood up from the flooring and looked down at him. The look in her eyes was a mix of anger, bitterness, and sadness. She just looked at him, like a little lost puppy dog. And without saying anything further from her, Belle began to walk away.

"You know, you don't have to be such a jerk about it though? Some people don't have a heart a brick like you. Sometimes people have feelings that get hurt."
Though the entirity of Chester's personality revolves around his pranks and love for causing problems, even he knew when he had gone too far. And from the tone of Belle's voice, along with her words, he knew that this was one of the times. Normally it would bother him little, if at all, that he had offended someone else. It happens all the time -- after all, look at how he interacts with Amelia. It's not like they get along, and he sure as Hell rubs her the wrong way all the time.
But this was different.
This was the girl he was to go to the Fairy Tale Ball with. The girl with whom he would be spending that night and, hopefully, it would turn out to be a good one. He thought she was very pretty and was at least rooting for a decent time at the dance.
This was not making that all too possible.
"Wait, Belle!" He said, jumping to his feet and running after her. "I have a, uh... riddle for you." Considering jokes and laughter was what got him into the mess, it was probably not going to work getting him out of it, but he hoped to at least distract her until he could come up with a better plan.
"If you have it, you want to share it. If you share it, you don't have it. What is it?"

Dazed and distracted, can't you tell? Belle began to walk away, even though she felt a few tingles pull her heart's strings. A little part of her heart was screaming at her, "Don't walk away! Don't walk away!"
"Wait, Belle! I have a, uh... riddle for you."
Belle turned around to face Chester, his melty chocolate brown eyes and all. Trying not to go weak in the knees and faint right smack-dab in the middle of the hallway, her blue eye's glanced everywhere but his face.
"If you have it, you want to share it. If you share it, you don't have it. What is it?"
Belle immediatly thought she knew the answer, but didn't want to seem like a, well, a hopeless romantic. Instead of blurting out what she thought was the answer, a shrug of her shoulders was all the body language she gave. "Chester," Belle said in a remorseful tone, "I don't know, really. What is it?"

"Chester, I don't know, really. What is it?"
In the time that she had come to a stop and faced his general direction, her eyes not meeting his, he was given the chance to catch up to her. Now he stood right in front of her, watching her closely. He waited a few moments, trying to figure out the best way to deliver the answer so that it does not destroy this already disasterous morning.
Eventually, he came up with what he hoped would be a solution to both the riddle and to this situation.
"It's a secret. Kind of like this... 'secret' I never told you," he said slowly, careful about each phrasing now that it seemed everything balanced on his answer. "Just how beautiful I find you."

And at that very moment, a surge of hormones went racing through Belle's whole body. She felt her heart jump into her throat (again), her arms began to shimmy and her legs (and knees) began to wobble. If her cheeks hadn't been red before, they were now a cherry tomato color. No one had ever, ever dared to call her beautiful before, except her beloved father.
Inhaling the sweet smell of Chester's cologne, then exhaling, Belle's mind fought for words. This was a big moment for her, not only was it her first experience with a boy and feelings, it was her first time actually carrying on a conversation with a male (her own age) for more than fifteen minutes.
"Really?" She whispered quietly, in a barely audible tone.

"Really?"
"As sure as a cat is lazy," Chester said with his usual grin, although he managed to avoid any kind of laughter. The moment was not really all that humorous, not even for him -- and this had to be a first in a long time.
Hoping that he had managed to avoid this situation getting any worse, he held out his arms to her, offering her a hug. He felt as if he was treading dangerous waters, where each movement or word could be his deathtrap.
So that was a bit of an exaggeration.
