It was a sunny day despite the big, fluffy clouds which dotted the sky. A saturday, meaning no worries of school, unless you had tons of homework. Thankfully, Leo had very little. School was not all that far in yet and the teachers were being fairly nice about everything. That would not last, and he knew it. So why not enjoy the freedom while he could?
Leo had spent the summer with his parents -- or at least, the last part of it. He caught up with some of his old classmates from High School and visited his family. But while he had been there, he had really missed the island Wonderland Academy was located on. This was his first chance to hit the streets again and just enjoy being here since he had returned.
A rumbling noise from his stomach signaled his hunger, and he turned into the closest thing he could find -- a McDonalds. The familiar decor greeted him and he smiled.
Giving his order at the register and retrieving his drink, Leo found an empty booth to sit in. He started in on his meal, watching the streets in hopes of finding someone he might know.

"It's just simply pride. Don't tell me you've never had that before."
It was a sunny Saturday full of bright cheer. Any other average Joe would probably be pleased at the day and go have a party or slack off or whatnot. But that was any average Joe; not Captain. Amelia always had something to do and never used the weather as a reason to slack off. She hated slackers. She thought it made much more sense to get everything done, and then have a drink. But even that was slacking off in her mind. There was always something to be achieved, something to be completed, or someone to talk to. This very philosophy was how Amelia kept active. Sitting still was a rarity for her, honestly. There was only one or two parts of the day when she actually did sit still, and that is when she's eating or sleeping.
Unfortunately, this time of day was lunch and Amelia needed something to eat before resuming her active and busy schedule of practicing sports and finishing homework. "Damn. What's the most convenient place?" she muttered to herself, her eyes scanning the possibilities. There, unfortunately, was only one possibility amist all the food stores she could see: McDonalds. Sighing at her only choice, Amelia briskly walked over and hoped to make it fast. As much of an independent as she was, she dreaded eating alone. It was dull and boring; nothing to do but look at your food and think. And when Amelia thought, it was usually about all the things she could be doing instead of thinking and sitting.
Soon she found herself inside the restaurant, smells of fattening burgers, fries, and other such aromas entering her sensitive nose. Amelia grimaced at the smell, knowing how fattening some of the meals were. She always kept on a strict diet. Her thin and fit body didn't sprout all by itself after all! Amelia went right to the cashier and looked up at the menu, deciding to order a salad. "Salad. And make it quick." She ordered, getting out the precise amount of money needed and paying for the meal and receiving it before looking around the sorry place for a table.
Surprisingly, Amelia recognized a familiar face. Hm... What was his name again? Oh yes, Leo. She reminded herself and gave a small smile. Amelia was relieved to know that she wouldn't have to eat alone after all. And her company wouldn't be someone she was completely annoyed at either. She respected Leo, after all. Amelia walked over to where Leo was sitting and sat in the booth, not bothering to ask whether she could sit in it. It wasn't like he would reject her anyway, right? "Leo, right? I have to say I'm quite relieved I found you in this joint instead of some chump or something. It wouldn't be fitting to eat a salad among the annoyances anyhow." Amelia commented, setting her salad down. "Was this your only choice of dining as well?"

Leo had not noticed Amelia enter until she was already up to the register. From behind, he did not recognize her, so quickly returned to his meal and watching the people passing by on the street. It seemed like a fairly slow day for a Saturday, but maybe most students were out of town? Just his luck. The one time he wanted to seriously talk to people, whether he knew them or not, and there were n--
"Leo, right? I have to say I'm quite relieved I found you in this joint instead of some chump or something. It wouldn't be fitting to eat a salad among the annoyances anyhow."
Before he knew it, there was a woman sitting across from him and she was speaking to him. He recognized her first as the person who entered the establishment most recently, and after a few moments, he realized that he knew her from school. Not knew-knew, because they had never really spoken that much, but he saw her around often.
"Was this your only choice of dining as well?"
"Leo, yes. And you're... uhh, Amelia, right?" He said with a smile. He hoped he got her name right. At her next question, he nodded. "Unfortunately so. This was my first chance since being gone all summer to check out the town, and before I knew it I was starving. This was just the closest thing I could find." He grimaced. He had never really been into fast food all that much. Leo would much rather spend his meal and money at a nice sit-down restaurant with a big, rare steak.
Mmm... steak.
Dragging his mind back to reality, he smiled once again. "Anyway, what brings you into town?"

"It's just simply pride. Don't tell me you've never had that before."
Amelia smirked in pride at remembering his name. Usually it was an easy feat to remember names-even for people she didn't like. There have only been a few occasions of forgetting names. Little people who have never been introduced to her or whatnot were names that were hard to remember. But what was funny about it was that they usually had names easier to remember. Names like "John" or "Lisa". Amelia was so used to people having such uncommon names that it was harder to remember the easier names. Leo wasn't a very common name, for instance. Therefore it was easier to remember because it stuck out more.
In the midst of names, Amelia heard his reply to her queries and gave her attention. Her eyes fixed on his, wanting him to know that she was paying attention. Amelia hated it when people didn't pay attention to her, so she made an inside promise to at least pay attention to people she respected. Otherwise she let her mind drift to other things. She was a very active Captain after all. At his remembering her name, Amelia gave an acknowledging nod. "My alias is Captain. You can call me that too." She informed, taking a small leaf from her salad and putting it into her mouth. The leaf barely had any dressing on it, so it was tasteless and bland. Immediately Amelia felt like some kind of rabbit and slightly pushed her salad away from her. Rabbits were timid little creatures, and feeling like one was never a good thing. Especially for a strong Captain.
At his next words, Amelia gave an understanding sigh. She was never a fan of McDonalds and hated the atmosphere. Chumps were all over the place, stuffing themselves with what she considered trash. A nice French restaurant with smaller entrees was what Amelia was raised to like, and what she loved. French food was amazing and reminded her of her brave and strong willed father. She soon returned to Leo's words when he explained the grueling powers of hunger with a question following of why she was in town. Amelia looked at Leo, giving an understanding nod that expressed her annoyance at McDonalds. "I hate what hunger can do to a person. It forces them to whatever they find; no matter how bad it is. I, for instance, only came to this disappointment because-like what you said-of its convenience and how close it is to the academy." Amelia stressed the 'disappointment' in hopes that the manager would overhear and perhaps improve the place. If he or she wouldn't, she would surely fill out a suggestion card or tell him or her about how terrible and tasteless the salad is.
At the question from before, Amelia leaned back in her booth spot and sat up proudly before responding. "My days are never complete, unlike the majority of the student population. I always have something to do or something to accomplish. I keep a tight and extremely organized schedule after all. Unfortunately, hunger and sleepiness always block my course of activity every day." She rolled her eyes slightly before continuing, "And when you're hungry, you'll eat anything. You surely understand what I mean, Leo?" Amelia asked for agreement to her point. He was quite an easy person to talk to with his smiling at what she said. She, on the other hand, didn't smile as much. The Captain smiled when something piqued her curiosity or when something was extraordinarily funny. Otherwise, there was no reason to smile in her opinion.
