REFLECTION;
- OKAY, SO HERE'S HOW MY HISTORY GOES: Marielle grew up in a pretty normal environment. She had a loving mother, a gruff but caring father, and while she's an only child, frequent visits from her eccentric grandmother kept things fairly lively. While her family wasn't exactly rich, they got by well enough, and Marielle was always pretty happy.
Over the years, Marielle developed some interesting personality quirks, such as her inability to lie. One might call that a good thing- after all, honesty is important, right? Except, when your father's boss comes over for dinner, and your father really wants to make a good impression and maybe land a promotion, it is not the appropriate time to cheerfully observe that said boss's hairpiece looks like a dead beaver. Marielle was eight; just a little too old to pass her off as a precocious small child, and therefore old enough to be held responsible for her words. As her father put it, it was lucky that his boss hadn't fired him on the spot.
Her inopportune bouts of clumsiness began to show up as well, meaning that crashes became a regular sound within the Young house. It was no coincidence that Marielle's mother moved any valuable sculptures in the house to secure locations, and stopped asking her to help set the table.
Her parents never outwardly punished Marielle for these things, but she could tell that they were disappointed in her, and that always hurt worse than an actual reprimand. She always tried her very best at everything, but somehow things never failed to go wrong for her, leading to the increasingly familiar disappointed head-shake from her parents.
Despite her many faults, she discovered a budding talent for the arts. She doodled a lot as a kid, and when she was a teenager, she opted for drawing lessons and vocal training. While she's a great singer, she's quite shy singing for other people, and so focused more on her drawing. In the end it paid off- being accepted to Wonderland Academy was one of the most exciting moments of her life. Even her parents were proud of her, though they often talked about her future when they thought she wasn't listening. They were proud of her talent, they would always say, but what kind of a career could come out of this? There was no money in drawing!
Now, in her sophomore year, Marielle has settled into the routine for the most part. She hasn't made too many friends, having accidentally established herself as a bit of a weirdo in an incident she would rather forget, but she's optimistic. She likes being at Wonderland a lot- she just wishes she could figure herself out; a bit of self-discovery, so to speak.
