Another day in the Academy, the new world that was now home to the young Ari Chalice. More like Tallie. Yes, yes, we all change our names at times. Well, not really but then again, not everyone had just practically run away from home, sold away her life at h0me, her love for singing in a contract, just to come here. She had made a name at home. People knew the young Ari Chalice with that soprano voice that beat her siblings' magnificent tones. She couldn't use that name. Ari wouldn't do. In short, just use some crazy old nickname she had gotten off one of her numerous aunts and uncles and just hope none of her family would come by and realize it was her. It was also the reason why she dyed her hair a nice brown. However, she did wonder why her aunt made her change her name. Wonderland Academy was on some far off place, on an island, somewhere her dad wouldn't even dream of putting her or any of her sisters on. In short her little cousin's fate on whatever fame and fortune you could get in their provincial place was dead sealed. Plus, how could dear Tallie actually claim that it was her voice when she was over here and not allowed to sing at all.
A sigh escaped from her lips at the thought of that. No singing. The one thing that always seemed to make the day seem better whatever boredom and stupidity her father and the butler (a.k.a. personal nanny) did to make it more or less plain and utterly boring. Singing was her only escape for those days. It was the only thing that could get her head up in some strange new world where in there was only melody and the sound of instruments rising in the air around you. It was chilidish to think about it that way but then again it was only a little day dream. You could guess with that little piece of information already that she was one who would dream about living her life as a musical. The drama, the singing, the music, and the wonderful choreography. She actually tried doing that a couple of times when she was back at home. It ended up with a very annoyed little six year old who more or less was frustrated that when she sang to the trees they didn't sing back. The same feeling was coming back to her again. The frustration and of course the pain of not being able to sing. At least, she was out of the suffocating place she used to call home.
As soon as the sigh escaped from her lips, the music in one of those theater classes started. She rolled her eyes at the timing of it coming. It was as if someone up there just wanted to taunt her about her crazy childhood dreams and the music. Not that she minded the music right now so much. It was just the instumentals of some play. Was it Once On This Island? Maybe. It had the distinct percussion and the beat that just made you want to dance tribal movements and lose all your inhibitions. It made her want to join in and dance her heart out. But no, she couldn't just beg to be allowed in some theatre class, more less in a musical. That would include singing and that would mean getting told off by her aunt and her dad finding out. That was a chance she didn't want to take. Life was just being unfair right now.
She scrunched up her nose at the sound. It was very very tempting. The play itself was something that she herself could relate to. All she needed was some guy she'd fall head over heels over, save from something then hopefully not die? Like that could happen. She was no fairy tale princess as much as they compared her to Ariel around here. It just wasn't life. Life didn't give that many fairy tales. Maybe she could hope hers is one.
The instrumental beat had turned into a very carefree song about the gods and the people on their little island. She heard the lyrics a couple of times before and had to say she quite new it as the people in the class themselves sung it with gusto and the truth of life. That life tempted her so badly. She wanted it, she wanted to burst into that room and beg to play the female lead. She could do it. She could dance and sing and hopefully act it out. It was tempting, oh so tempting. It wasn't hard to just lose herself in it right now.
Her feet kicked off her heavy shoes and stepped in strongly to the beat. Or what she thought was the right beat. Whatever, she didn't really care or more like she wasn't thinking. She just wanted to dance on some secluded part near the performing arts building. Actually, she was just planning to relax but hearing music like that just went through her soul and just wanted to let her move to the beat. She never did tribal but it seemed just as fun to just step, turn, and throw her hands up at random intervals.
She was losing herself. Losing herself to the song and forgetting where she was. She just loved music too much. It was in her soul just like how it was in her mother's. She was losing herself to the sea of tones and the singing voices which she was slightly singing in lower tones without knowing until she finally burst out that one line.
" While we are dancing just to stay ALIVE!"
She stopped midway before she even could sing the next note, She had heard a crack of twig or a pebble rolling. She wasn't sure. Was someone there? Did they think it was her singing? Oh, what a tangled web you weave, Tallie. What are you supposed to do when someone sees you now? Bare Feet, tangling hair, creased skirt, and looking like so0me tribal woman. More less ask you if you were singing? Better yet just to keep your mouth shut and not look for someone. But then again, she was never one to hold back curiosity.
She peered around the tree she was dancing in front or behind of. She saw no one. That was weird. Maybe she wasn't looking hard enough. She looked even closer, moving her feet, unsure of what was there. Maybe she was just missing something. But the path did seemed rather, well, trodden on. She wasn't focusing where it led. It went around the other way. She was more likely just checking out if someone was there.
